A few useful distinctions

What do SCY, SCM and LCM mean?

SCY is a 25-yard pool, SCM is a 25-meter pool, and LCM is a 50-meter pool. These describe the length of the pool, while the event distance is the total distance you swim. A 100 yd event in SCY is four pool lengths.

Why does 500 yards convert to 400 meters?

They are corresponding freestyle events in this model, rather than equal physical distances. The same event mapping pairs 1000 yd with 800 m, and 1650 yd with 1500 m. The target event is always shown alongside the estimate.

Why are some conversions unavailable?

We have not verified the SCY–SCM factors for long freestyle events or 100 IM. Those directions stay unavailable while other supported targets still calculate. This calculator’s LCM event set also does not include 100 IM. See the exact support boundaries.

Can I use a converted time to enter a meet?

Check the meet’s current rules first. This calculator does not certify entry or qualifying times. Its estimates cannot account for your individual turns, technique or race conditions, and it does not use a current NCAA qualifying model.
